Across the Pond is a free advice and guidance service to students wanting to pursue their graduate, undergraduate, and short-term studies in the UK. Across the Pond has provided expert advice and guidance to Canadian students looking to study in the UK since 2004. Our focus on individual attention and our unique approach to student recruitment is inspired by the first-hand experiences that our founders and advising team have had while pursuing their own international studies. We represent over 40 universities across the UK, many of which are amongst the best in the UK, and the students with whom we work benefit from a high acceptance rate at these institutions due to our personalized advice and support.

Canada Law From Abroad provides an international education bridge for Canadians to attend top tier UK law schools. Canadian accreditation of UK law degrees is an easily attainable routine process. High school graduates and university/college students can enroll in three-year LLB degree programs, while University graduates qualify for two-year “accelerated” LLB degree programs. The UK’s 2+1 Yr. Legal Specialist Combo (LLB+LLM) is a proven career door-opener. Students with relevant degrees are also eligible for one-year graduate level LLM degree programs and become legal specialists for multi-disciplinary careers in governments, NGOs and consultancies.

Chantiers Jeunesse is a non-profit organization supported by a community of volunteers united by common objectives: the personal development of young adults and the improvement of local communities, in Canada or overseas. Chantiers Jeunesse’s community is based on values of intercultural exchange, solidarity, respect of differences and involvement.

We guide motivated young adults to participate in volunteering projects (workcamps) in 35 different countries, from Europe to Asia to North America (including Canada). Chantiers Jeunesse has over 50 partners across the globe and is a member of the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organizations.

The Canadian Learning Abroad Alumni Community (CLAAC) is led by educational institutions across Canada, and supported by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE). This network enables Canadians who have had a learning abroad experience to engage and connect with like-minded individuals and help inspire learning abroad and support the re-entry process through storytelling, insights and advice. Membership in this group is open to Canadians who have completed a learning abroad experience (for or not for credit).

Class Afloat - West Island College International

Class Afloat is a leader in experiential education, an accredited high school and proud partner of Acadia University. For over 30 years, Class Afloat has been providing students with the life-changing opportunity to spend a semester or a full year at sea aboard a majestic tall ship while earning full academic credits, exploring new cultures and shaping their understanding of the world around them. The Class Afloat program offers grade 11, 12, first-year university and gap year students the opportunity to join a community of motivated youth, faculty and mariner crew as they sail to 20+ ports on four continents, engage in voluntary service projects and redefine their roles as global citizens. All academic credits earned with Class Afloat are fully accredited and are transferable to Canadian and international secondary schools, universities and colleges. One semester, full year options and scholarships are available.

Explore Program

Explore is a program funded by the federal government for language and cultural learning in Canada. It is an intensive French-immersion program that is offered during the spring or summer for people with any skill level in French. Explore participants are awarded a place and funding that covers tuition fees for the course, instructional materials, meals, and accommodation.

Give A Heart To Africa

Give a Heart To Africa (GHTA) is an NGO in Tanzania that empowers disadvantaged women with skills to pull themselves out of poverty via education and entrepreneurship. We operate a small business school and offer a free 12-month course in English, business, and vocational skills. Upon completion, GHTA financially assists select graduates to start their business. We run two retail women's co-operatives and a food service kiosk. We are 100% volunteer-run, welcoming volunteers from any country. We offer the unique cultural exchange of weekly home visits with our students and run a small after-school children’s program.

Global Affairs Canada - Volunteering and Internships Abroad

The International Youth Internship Program and International Aboriginal Youth Internships initiative offer unique opportunities for Canadian youth to acquire employment skills, gain valuable international experience and engage as global citizens. The Volunteer Cooperation Program offers skilled Canadians of all ages the opportunity to share their expertise abroad and help fulfill development needs of local communities.

These three programs are delivered by Global Affairs Canada in collaboration with Canadian civil society organizations that support international development, an important element of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.
