Teaching English Abroad 101

What You Need to Know for a Successful (and Amazing) International Work and Travel Experience

Ever wish you could travel and live abroad long term, but wonder how you would support yourself? Maybe you've heard of teaching English abroad, but have no idea what it entails, where you could go, or how to get started? We'll give you a hint: just about any Native English speaker can do it, and you don't need to be an educator to take advantage of this massive international job market. Join us for an introduction to all things Teaching English Abroad! We will cover the teaching job markets around the world, TEFL Certifications, and how to choose the program or destination that's right for you.

Visitoz was founded in 1991 and since then thousands of young people from all over the world have been to Springbrook Farm to learn the basics of Australian agriculture and had guaranteed jobs for the whole of their visa. These jobs also qualify for the second visa. There are also jobs available in tourism, hospitality, teaching, nursing, construction and almost anything else that can be done in a rural area! The programme includes four days of jetlag recovery with sun, sand, sea and surf, followed by five days of farm and safety training. Then you choose a job and on your ninth day in Australia travel to start earning. Visit the Real Australia and Get Paid doing it!

Are you considering a career in international development, or wondering how to break into this sector? This panel of five will share reflections and insights on their volunteer and career journeys, ways to contribute towards global sustainable development, and why it matters now, more than ever.  Panelists include:

Tracey Evans - Program Officer, Aga Khan Foundation Canada
Carine Guidicelli - Executive Director, Crossroads International
Kumaran Nadesan - Founding Chair, Comdu.it
Maggie Zeng, Ph.D. - New Business Development & Grants Manager, Christian Children's Fund, & OCIC Board Director
Heather Keachie - Board Director, Oikocredit Canada

Brought to you in partnership with the Ontario Council for International Cooperation (OCIC).
